ABOUT ME
Meet Me: Your Expat Psychotherapist in Hong Kong
Learn more about me, the life-experiences and philosophy that brought me here.
Expat life can be the catalyst—let’s help you heal.
Hello, I’m Vanessa. I’m a Schema Therapy Practitioner and I support English speaking expats, internationally mobile people y a la comunidad Hispano-hablante in Hong Kong and across Asia.
If you’re trying to build a life in Hong Kong, you’ll know the feeling: making somewhere feel like home … while part of “home” is still elsewhere. I was born in Peru, lived in the UK, moved to Shanghai more than 15 years ago, and I’ve been in Hong Kong since 2014. So much of my work is shaped by understanding what it means to belong in transition.
I offer evidence-based, integrative therapy, grounded in warmth, clarity, and genuine respect for your unique story. Many clients come to me for anxiety, depression, relationship distress, grief and loss, and emotional overwhelm—especially when work stress, pressure, or social isolation start to feel too heavy.
Therapy with me is collaborative and compassionate. We’ll make sense of what’s happening, gently explore the patterns underneath, and build practical tools you can use in real life. Confidentiality is always a priority, and our focus is on helping you move toward emotional balance and lasting change—at a pace that feels safe.
"Grounded guidance, shared growth, lasting change."

My work philosophy
My practice is founded on a simple principle: healing should feel safe, compassionate, and personalised. I provide support that is based on evidence-based psychology, yet it is never delivered as a "one-size-fits-all solution".
Therapy with me is customised to your unique narrative and pace. I have a strong belief in the connection between body and mind. When you've been enduring chronic stress, anxiety, low mood, or social isolation, your nervous system often retains the effects long before you can articulate how you feel. This is why I collaborate closely with soma-informed methods, assisting you in recognising what your body communicates and leveraging that awareness to foster steadier regulation and relief.
I integrate a profound interest in attachment theory into my work—many relationship difficulties (and the accompanying emotional distress) stem from how we were taught to seek safety, closeness, reassurance, and comfort early in life. In Schema Therapy, we delve into the underlying patterns of those experiences, creating space for new, safer ways to relate to yourself and to others.
My practice is grounded on an early foundation in Health Psychology—the powerful interplay between mind and body that impacts your daily mental and physical wellness. I help clients identify how intergenerational patterns, ingrained beliefs, and environmental stressors shape their present experience. Collaboratively, we will gently disrupt these cycles to foster lasting holistic healing.
Ultimately, I see therapy as a pathway for you to gently disentangle what you've been carrying, enabling you to make choices that genuinely reflect you. My goal is to empower you to feel more grounded, understood, and capable—equipped with practical tools and skills for real life, alongside a process that honours how healing unfolds uniquely for you.
This is Me. Here. For you.
