My Mission: Restoring Mental Health Through the Body-Mind Balance

Learn more about me and the life-experiences and philosophy that brought me here.

Expat life can be the catalyst—let’s help you heal.

Hello, I’m Vanessa. I’m a Schema Therapy Practitioner and I support English-speaking expats and internationally mobile people across Europe and Asia.

If you’re trying to build a life in Hong Kong, you’ll know the feeling: making somewhere feel like home … while part of “home” is still elsewhere. I was born in Peru, lived in the UK, moved to Shanghai more than 15 years ago, and I’ve been in Hong Kong since 2014. So much of my work is shaped by understanding what it means to belong in transition.

I offer evidence-based, integrative therapy, grounded in warmth, clarity, and genuine respect for your unique story. Many clients come to me for anxiety, depression, relationship distress, grief and loss, and emotional overwhelm—especially when work stress, pressure, or social isolation start to feel too heavy.

Therapy with me is collaborative and compassionate. We’ll make sense of what’s happening, gently explore the patterns underneath, and build practical tools you can use in real life. Confidentiality is always a priority, and our focus is on helping you move toward emotional balance and lasting change—at a pace that feels safe.

"Grounded guidance, shared growth, lasting change."

My work philosophy

My work is guided by a simple belief: healing should feel safe, compassionate, and personal. I offer support that is grounded in evidence-based psychology, but never delivered “as a one-size-fits-all solution”. Therapy with me is tailored to your story and your pace.

I strongly believe in the body–mind connection. When you’ve been living with chronic stress, anxiety, low mood, or social isolation, your nervous system often carries the impact long before you can find the words. That’s why I work closely with somatic-informed approaches, helping you recognise what your body is communicating and use that awareness to create steadier regulation and relief.

I bring a deep interest in attachment to my practice —because many relationship challenges (and the emotional pain that follows) are linked to how we learned to seek safety, closeness, reassurance, and comfort. In Schema Therapy, we explore the patterns underneath those experiences, and in doing so, we make space for new, safer ways of relating to yourself and others.

My perspective is rooted in an early foundation in Health Psychology—the understanding that wellbeing is not only about thoughts, but also about how we care for the body. Throughout life, and across generations, patterns can be shaped by both environmental factors and learned beliefs. Hence therapy, for me, can guide you to gently untangle what’s been carried—so you can make choices that truly belong to you.

Ultimately, my aim is to help you feel more grounded, understood, and empowered—equipped with practical tools and skills you can use in real life, and a process that respects how healing unfolds for you.
